Vacation

The Union proposes twenty (20) business days of paid vacation time off per year without loss of compensation for student employees on 12-month appointments, fifteen (15) business days of paid vacation time off for student employees on appointments for two (2) consecutive semesters in an academic year, and seven (7) business days of paid vacation time off for student employees on appointment for one (1) semester. Hourly student employees shall not receive vacation time off.

The University proposes that Student Employees on 12-month research and teaching appointments are entitled to ten (10) days of vacation time off per year, and Student Employees that hold a teaching appointment for two (2) consecutive semesters in an academic year are entitled to seven (7) days of vacation time off. 

The University and the Union agree that vacation must be approved in advance and that for student employees on teaching appointments, vacation time off shall be taken during academic breaks or as otherwise mutually agreed to by the student employee and supervisor.
