On April 1, 2021, representatives of the University attended the seventy-second bargaining session with the union committee representing graduate student assistants. The bargaining session was held via video conference.
The Union and the University discussed the University’s previously presented proposals on Nondiscrimination and changes to the EOAA appeals process. The University agreed to consider further revisions to its proposal.
The University presented its analysis of the cost of the Union’s revised package of proposals and the parties discussed the analysis. The University reiterated that given the projected cost of the Union’s proposals over the University’s proposals of more than $47 million, a significant moderation of the Union’s proposals would be important to reaching an agreement.
The University suggested the parties consider mediation. The Union agreed to discuss mediation at their membership meeting scheduled for the following day and deferred setting additional bargaining dates.
