December 21, 2020

On December 21, 2020, representatives of the University attended the fifty-second bargaining session with the union committee representing graduate student assistants. The bargaining session was held via video conference.

Dr. Richard Eichler, Executive Director of Counseling & Psychological Services, and Michael McNeil, Chief of Administration, of Columbia Health joined the bargaining session to answer questions about Columbia Health services and the Student Health Insurance Plan.  The University agreed to schedule an additional meeting when data becomes available from Aetna related to the insurance plan over the last academic year.

The University and the Union each presented revised proposals on Management and Academic Rights. The parties discussed the proposals and reached a tentative agreement.

The parties continued to discuss their previously presented proposals on Professional Development and Non-Discrimination.

The University directed the Union to https://www.sfs.columbia.edu/content/cares-act-higher-education-emergency-relief-fund for its disclosures in response to the CARES Act reporting requirements.  The University agreed to provide a fiscal update at a future session.

The next bargaining session is scheduled for January 12, 2021.
