On March 18, 2021, representatives of the University attended the sixty-ninth bargaining session with the union committee representing graduate student assistants. The bargaining session was held via video conference.
The University presented some information requested by the Union regarding Course Assistants working fifteen hours or more per week over the course of the semester. The University also answered questions regarding insurance options for graduating students. The Union advised that it did not yet have the additional data the University requested related to the Union’s comparison of teaching assistant compensation at NYU to compensation at Columbia.
The parties continued to discuss their previously presented proposals on Nondiscrimination, Union Security, Health Benefits, Fee and Tuition Waivers, Compensation, and Recognition.
The University reiterated that it would consider further changes in its comprehensive offer of settlement if the remaining outstanding issues were addressed as a whole and invited the Union to present a package proposal.
The Union suggested a mediator attend future bargaining sessions.
The next bargaining sessions are scheduled for March 23, 2021 and March 25, 2021.
